In doing some research on gender and age by looking at birthday cards, I am able to see a trend towards humor in our society. It is a trend to see and don’t see. Many of the cards I examined deal with physical traits that older people get, but don’t really like. However, they point these things out in a joking manner. These cards suggest that Americans are coping with the whiles of aging and using humor to maintain a youthful mindset. They realize that youth comes from within.
